<sub>This guy deserves a lot of kudos for having had to raise Wyborn as a single parent. It's a wonder he doesn't have more grey hair than he does, but he loves his son and would do anything for him. He was a bit worried when Wyborn decided to leave home. He'd always tried to protect the absol and he wondered if Wyborn was ready for the world... or if the world was ready for Wyborn.

Melvin lives in a small pokemon settlement in the shadow of Mt. Silver and he works from home as a computer programmer. His wife, Giselle, mysteriously disappeared when Wyborn was just an egg and hasn't been seen since, but he still wears his wedding ring.

As a psyduck, he's subject to the usual headaches and sometimes when he gets a really bad migraine, strange things happen, like random stuff flying around the house. Wyborn always found that pretty entertaining.</sub>

<sub>Giselle D'Argent was born in a secret absol sanctuary high on Mt. Silver. It's a place for absols who've become so jaded and cynical from being badly treated that they've given up on trying to warn anyone of imminent disasters. They only want to be left alone and most of them are afraid of the outside world due to some terrible things they'd experienced out there. All her life Giselle was taught to fear and hate outsiders, but she was always curious and she longed to travel the world. She hoped to change people's opinions on absols and surely it couldn't be as bad as everyone said it was.

It all came to a head when Giselle was 19. She was in a relationship with another young absol named Édouard Dumas. Both their families were very proud of this fine pairing of pure absol blood, but what no one knew was that Édouard was abusive towards Giselle. She was very unhappy with him and afraid to tell anyone for fear of retribution. She wasn't even sure her own parents would be on her side, so she decided that she would leave that place for good. One night she slipped away, escaping down the mountainside to what she hoped would be freedom.

She ended up in a small settlement at the base of the mountain and it was there she met Melvin Bramblepelt, a nerdy psyduck computer programmer. He took her in when she was feeling lost, scared, and unsure of what to do next. They started talking and she felt she could trust him – he was so different from anyone she'd ever met. Eventually she told him her whole story. He offered to let her stay and soon the tall, beautiful absol and the geeky, little psyduck became a very unlikely couple, but Giselle didn't care what he looked like. Melvin was the kindest pokemon she had ever known and the first to make her feel truly happy. They were married within a year of meeting.

But Giselle still longed to travel and see everything the world had to offer. She had expressed this to Melvin, but being a simple psyduck, he was happy where he was and didn't have much interest in travelling. As time went on, Giselle became pregnant with their first egg and once that egg was laid, she felt all her dreams slipping away. She had never meant to become tied down with a family so soon, and even though she loved Melvin with all her heart, she didn't want to lose all the hope she had of seeing the world and being a sort of ambassador for absols everywhere.

Unfortunately, for all her bold ideas, Giselle was still so afraid of confrontation and of seeing disappointment in the eyes of her loved ones, so once again she fled into the night, leaving behind her husband, unborn son, and her happy life. She was never seen again after that, but the necklace and cloak she now wears are clues to the terrible fate she has met with, although their meaning won't be apparent to everyone.</sub>
